The Mdzananda Animal Clinic in Khayelitsha is thrilled to announce their participation as one of the charity beneficiaries of the 2024 Sanlam Cape Town Marathon, set to take place this October. Known for its scenic routes and vibrant atmosphere, the marathon offers runners an unforgettable experience through one of Africa’s most iconic cities while supporting a great cause.
In 2023, a team of 44 dedicated supporters raised an impressive R24,501 for the sick, injured, and homeless animals of Khayelitsha. This year, the clinic is aiming even higher, setting their sights on doubling or tripling that amount. Marcelle du Plessis, Fundraising and Communications Executive, shares, “We believe that, with the public’s support, we can achieve this ambitious goal. Last year, we served over 17,000 pets that would have had no access to medical care, and all funds raised will go directly to helping them.”
By joining the #RunForRescues movement, participants will make a significant difference in the lives of animals in need. Here’s how you can get involved:
Pledge to Run: Whether you're a seasoned athlete or new to running, the marathon offers something for everyone. Choose from any of the marathon events and run to support Mdzananda.
Buy a Ticket: Get your ticket through the clinic, wear orange to show support, and encourage others to sponsor your run.
Already Registered: Even if you have your ticket, you can still raise funds by contacting Kelly Arendse at fund@mdzananda.co.za.
"Every step you take helps us provide care and shelter to animals in need," says Arendse. "Together, we can make 2024 our best year yet."
