Cape Town’s vibrant Silo District was the epicenter of empowerment and innovation as the WomenIN Festival 2024 wrapped up on 14 and 15 November. The two-day event brought together hundreds of attendees from across the globe to celebrate women's leadership and explore pathways for impactful change in sectors like business, technology, and the arts.
With its theme, “Championing Women, Creating Impact,” the festival featured an array of keynote speeches, engaging panels, and interactive workshops aimed at equipping women with the tools and connections needed for leadership and innovation. Pinky Sharon Kekana, Deputy Minister in the Presidency, delivered a standout keynote emphasizing the importance of including boys in the discourse on gender transformation, setting the tone for inclusive future initiatives.
The festival’s panel discussions tackled topics such as gender parity, policy reform, and mental health, while workshops and masterclasses provided practical skills in entrepreneurship and overcoming systemic barriers. The event also featured a cultural showcase with local artists and an art exhibition spotlighting the creativity of women in the art world.
Nazlee Fredericks-Maharaj, WomenIN Portfolio Director, noted, “Our goal was to create a space where women could share ideas and lead with confidence. The energy here has been inspiring, and we look forward to seeing the impact of these connections.”
