Cape Town’s much-loved City Sightseeing Red Bus has added an exciting new stop to its popular Mini-Peninsula Blue Tour Route. From 13 September 2025, passengers can look forward to hopping off at the brand-new Hout Bay-Sentinel Precinct stop, bringing the total to 25 stops along the scenic journey.
The announcement was marked by an official launch on 12 September, with South Africa’s Minister of Public Works & Infrastructure, Dean Macpherson, cutting the ribbon on this vibrant addition. For both locals and tourists, this is welcome news: Hout Bay has long been one of Cape Town’s most dynamic destinations, blending natural beauty with cultural richness.
The new stop places travellers in the heart of Hout Bay’s buzzing atmosphere. Highlights include the Bay Harbour Market, a lively hub of food, craft and live entertainment; artisanal tastings at Hout Bay Harbour Distillery and Urban Craft Brewery; and indulgent ice cream from Sinful. Visitors can also enjoy classic favourites like Fish on the Rocks and Snoekies, while eagerly awaiting the arrival of the iconic Panama Jacks restaurant. The precinct is also home to a range of galleries, making it a feast for the eyes as well as the palate.
Hout Bay’s picturesque harbour, golden beaches, and mountain backdrop already make it a must-see location, and the addition of the new stop ensures visitors can explore the area at their own pace. With two convenient stops now in Hout Bay, the Blue Route cements its status as one of the most rewarding ways to experience the Cape.
City Sightseeing continues to offer a seamless way to explore Cape Town’s top landmarks—from Table Mountain to Kirstenbosch Gardens and the V&A Waterfront—complete with multilingual audio guides and even boat tours for a fresh perspective on the Mother City.
